Free Pattern: Summer Squares Beach Tote

Here is a free pattern for a fun tote bag that is perfect for taking to the beach or pool. The main portion of the bag features a square mesh pattern that will allow wet towels and swimsuits to breathe. It is also great for carrying toys, sunscreen and beach reads. This crochet pattern is fairly easy and quick to work up. I hope you will enjoy it!

Thank you so much, Sharon! I think crocheting on a snowy day and dreaming of beach days is a good idea – it’s just too bad this project won’t keep you warm while you’re working on it.

Hi there! I just wanted to say that I love tis pattern. I just finished the bag last night for a week at the beach. I did alter it just a little ( only mad one long strap) it came out so well that my daughter wants me to make her one! Thanks again

My question for you is when do I start shaping the bottom Since I have never made a bag in this fashion. Any help would be nice thanks. I love the idea of this pattern and will continue with it. Thanks again for this pattern.

Hi Emily, The bottom of the bag is a big circle made by rounds 1-18. Then rounds 19-22 will form the bottom of the sides of the bag before the mesh pattern starts. Let me know if you have any additional questions and have fun crocheting!
